Henri Carsalade

Henri Carsalade was President of Agropolis Foundation in Montpellier, France, which works on agronomy and sustainable development. He recently retired from the Presidency of Agropolis Foundation and now serves as Board Chair of the Foundation. He joined the WARDA Board in March 2009.

Mr. Carsalade is a graduate (GREF - Ingénieur general du génie rural) of the prestigious French institution “Ecole Nationale de Génie Rural, des Eaux et des Forets” in Paris. His professional experience spans over 40 years, a period during which he has served his country and in many international institutions. He has served as Director General of “Centre de coopération internationale en recherché agronomique pour le développement” (CIRAD) and as Deputy Director General of the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations responsible for the Departments of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Development. 

He has been a Board member of IFPRI and ISNAR, and currently serves on the ICARDA Board. Mr. Carsalade previously served as member and Chair of the WARDA Board. He was awarded the honors of “Officier de la Legion d’Honneur”, “Chevalier de l”Ordre National du Mérite” and “Chevalier du Mérite Agricole” for his distinguished service.

Henri Carsalade is a French national and is married with three Children.
