Experience: |
Post
doctoral 1999 – 2002. Africa Rice Center (WARDA) - M’bé, Bouaké,
Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
September 2002 – to date: Molecular biologist/Head of Biotechnology
Unit at WARDA
Her research focus: Genetic profiling of NERICA (New Rice for Africa)
lines and populations; Gene mapping with focus on drought; Marker
Assisted Selection with focus on rice yellow mottle virus
Others Experience
She set-up the biotechnology
laboratories at M’bé (Côte d’Ivoire)in Bamako and in Benin, and
strengthened the scientific capacity of the biotechnology unit.
Currently, the laboratory has almost a well established facility and
has two post doctoral fellows working in it. Four support staffs and
four PhD students are also working in the biotechnology laboratory.
Collaborative research:
- Research collaboration with IRD on interspecific genomic and rice
yellow mottle virus
- Research collaboration with Cornell University on development of
introgression lines
- Lead PI, collaborative project for Marker Assisted Selection and
capacity building in molecular techniques in four NARS countries
(Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali and The Gambia) and PI of the project
namely “Gene mining of indigenous rice germplasm (Oryza glaberrima &
Oryza sativa) to improve drought resistance in rainfed production
systems for resource poor farmers of Africa” |
